21- DAYS PRAYER & FASTING

The purpose of fasting is to draw closer to God. This is an intentional choice to “turn down the noise of the world” and focus on your relationship with your Father.  The power of fasting has less to do with food than with setting yourself apart for a specific period of time to focus more on the Lord, prayer, and worship.

Types of Fasts

Your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

Complete Fast

In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.

Partial Fast

This fast you choose one meal and take time to get alone in a quiet place and spend time praying. You are not giving up anything specific but a meal, or two, entirely.

Selective Fast

In this type of fast you give up a specific item or items from your meals. You might even find it beneficial to fast from a regular activity or habit. Examples could be things such as television, social media, etc.

Daniel Fast

This fast consists of eating meals made up of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. You are eliminating sugars, breads, and fried foods.
